An introductory program for young AFL players will begin soon in Nanango and Cherbourg, run in conjunction with the South Burnett Saints.
NAB AFL Auskick will be returning across the region on Thursdays at Nanango and Cherbourg state schools.
The program will run for seven weeks.
Boys and girls will receive a backpack filled with goodies, including a synthetic Sherrin football.
Participants who register and pay online for the program will receive tickets to a Brisbane Lions game in season 2014.
AFL Queensland Regional Manager Keith Webb said he expected another big year for the program in Nanango and Cherbourg.
“We are expecting somewhere between 40 to 50 participants for the Nanango program and we should see quite a few transition across to the Saints,” he said.
“For the Cherbourg centre we run a modified program and expect anywhere up to 100 students to participate in the healthy lifestyle program, with the PCYC Murgon assisting with the running of the sessions.”
The sessions will be held at:
- Nanango State School – Thursdays, 3:20pm to 4:20pm, from May 15 to June 26
- Cherbourg State School – Thursdays, times TBA, from May 15 to June 19
Registrations can be done online
