The RSPCA has extended its popular “Make Us An Offer” cat promotion until the end of April.
“It was definitely a success but we still need to rehome more adult cats so the promotion will be extended. We sincerely thank everyone who decided to enrich their home by getting an animal from the RSPCA,” spokesman Michael Beatty said.
The promotion ran at the weekend and simply meant that people could nominate what they wanted to pay for the cat.
Mr Beatty provided a rough guide to the amount the RSPCA invests in each cat before they can find their “furever” home:
Desexing | $110-200 |
Vaccinations | $50 |
Microchipping | $40 |
Worming | $20 |
Flea Treatments | $11 |
Food | $38 |
Health Check | $50 |
“The total care cost for an adult cat is $369 and our usual adoption fees range from $180 – $199 for cats and of course all pets are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, worm and flea-treated before they’re put up for adoption,” he said.
“But now you can nominate an adoption fee and take your new best friend home!”
