Two Queensland titles were decided at Saturday night’s speedway racing in Kingaroy. In-form Toowoomba driver Scott Genrich – who has won seven feature races this season – walked away with the win in the Lightning Sprints Queensland Title.
And Victorian Tim Reidy emphasised his dominance in the AMCA Nationals, taking out the Queensland title for the third year running.
A good crowd at the Lucas Oil Kingaroy Speedway enjoyed some close racing in the two Queensland title events as well as action in Formula 500s, Modified Productions and Street Stocks (which, confusingly for both drivers and spectators, raced both ways around the track in a “scramble”).
It was a big night for local drivers in the Modified Productions, with the top three positions being taken by South Burnett Speedway Club members: Brett Barron, Ashley Barron and Gavin Fletcher.
Rockhampton driver Luke Frenken had the crowd briefly worried when he failed to exit his vehicle after hitting the wall in one of the AMCA heats.
Fortunately he had only injured his shoulder. He was assisted from the car by ambulance paramedics and taken to Kingaroy Hospital for treatment.
The next speedway racing at Kingaroy will be the traditional Show Meeting on May 3.
