There were a big couple of days in Kingaroy on Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • Winners: Kawana Waters team of M. Kerss, E. Dehnert, B. Jones and N. Whitton
  • Runners-Up: Toowoomba-Cooloola team of Sue Ramsay, Margaret Podmore, Joyce McGeorge and Kay Pott

Nanango news:

In the monthly “State Of Origin” self-selected triples match (aka Nanango versus Yarraman), with conditions of play two for an end and five for a win, it looks like Nanango will hang on to bragging rights:

  • Josh Pogson, Evelyn Jensen and Mike Wyvill were winners with 40pts +32
  • Bev and Kev Profke and Helene Johnson came in next best with 40pts +25
  • Glenda and George Wolski and Brian Dugdell – 33pts
  • Joe Aglizzio, Lew Saunders and Cec Bracken – 29pts
  • Bob Hammond, Bob Hall and Ben Pratap – 27pts
  • Charlie, Daphne Stewart and Doreen Fitch – 27pts
  • Chris McLeod, Keith Carroll and John McConnell – 27pts
  • Trevor George. Sue Tucker and Brian Havell – 25pts
  • Booie Lucas, Nev Lawrence and John Beattie – 22pts
  • Di Currell, Jim LeCocq and Neil Currell – 20pts

.
On Tuesday, Club Championship matches were played. And in the A Singles, Bob Hall defeated Mike Wyvill 25-4 (wow, big win that one!)

But another game of note was Ben Pratap’s defeat of Trevor George 25-22, and the final score really doesn’t do this match full justice.

In the actual game, Ben initially jumped to a 16 to 3 lead after 16 ends. But Trevor rebounded and had levelled the score to 22-all after 28 ends. What a great match for the gallery!

And in social play on Tuesday:

  • Bob Hammond and Lew Saunders 34 def Joe Aglizzio and Cec Bracken 13
  • Trevor George and Ben Pratap 19 def Mike Wyvill and Bob Hall 14

Finally, in Friday’s Scroungers, the chief scrounger was Greg Pogson once again with 112pts.

He was followed by Lew Saunders (106pts), Ben Pratap (104pts) and Trevor George (98pts) ,,, and we’ll stop there.

.
On Sunday, a full bus from Bribie came along, with players drawn into teams out of the hat. Winners and losers were drawn out of the hat too.

Chicken schnitzel and crumbed schnapper were on the menu – they look after you at Esk!

Coming events include Sponsor’s Day on Sunday, March 23, and a bus trip to Woongoolba on March 30 for the Friendship Cup match.

Esk won the Friendship Cup last year and hope to bring it home again in 2014.
