Kingaroy State High School flautist, Yoko Henderson, was one of six students chosen from across the Toowoomba/South Burnett regions to attend a Master Class last Thursday with world-renowned flautist Jane Rutter.

The Master Class sessions, held at Toowoomba’s Fairholme College, gave each of the students the opportunity to work one-on-one with an experienced and proven expert to refine their playing skills.

Jane is renowned for her on-stage warmth; quicksilver technical brilliance; and inspired, dynamic performing and teaching skills.

She enjoys passing her skills onto to young musicians.

“The flute is a voice. Music is a narrative, the secret language of humanity.” Jane said.

On completion of the Master Class, Yoko then joined with the Fairholme College Flute Ensemble and performed several musical pieces with Jane in front of family and friends.

Last June Yoko was also involved as part of the team who made a successful assault on the World’s Biggest Orchestra record at Suncorp Stadium.
