Fire crews in action at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon, today

March 8, 2014

A large grass fire which broke out about 1:15pm in windy conditions on the outskirts of Murgon has blackened most of the Angelfield airstrip but fire crews have protected buildings in the area.

The PCYC’s remote control car club track is also believed to have escaped damage although the flames came very close.

Ten fire crews – including urban and rural units – are currently mopping up grassland in the Macalister and McLucas street area.

An area of about 50ha had been burned out by 2:30pm.
