The Proston Show Society held a Mad Hatters Tea Party in the main street of Proston on Saturday morning.
The reason was to announce the winners of this year’s Junior Miss Showgirl, Junior Rural Ambassador, Miss Proston Showgirl and Rural Ambassador.
The winners were:
- Miss Proston Showgirl: Bianca Murtagh
- Rural Ambassador: Kiere Weisse
- Junior Miss Showgirl: Olivia Frahm and Steph Johnston (tied)
- Junior Rural Ambassador: Graceanne Waterford
Show Society Secretary Del Blanch said the Society were very happy with the number of young people wishing to participate in the awards.
The Proston Show will be held this Saturday, March 8, at the Proston Show Grounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road between 8:00am and 10:00pm.
It will be the Show’s 56th outing and the Show Society is hoping for the usual enthusiastic turnout at the grounds, despite the impact recent dry weather has been having on primary producers.
The show will get underway with trade show displays, stud prime cattle judging and horse-riding events, followed by a Championship Dog Show and then show jumping, poultry judging, and a big range of pavilion exhibits and wood events, including the famous Proston Post-Ripping Challenge.
Other great things to look out for this year include Viv and Maurie’s Shearing Shed with bottle-feeding of lambs; the Proston Stockman’s Classic; a fun Vintage Car Show; and bush poet John Major.
From 6:00pm, the Show Society will be running a barbecue, karaoke and a bar for everyone who wants to party on.
There’ll also be a fireworks spectacular lighting up the skies at around 7:00pm.
Admission to this year’s show remains at $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $3 for primary school students (under 5s are admitted free).
A family pass for two adults and any number of children is also available for $25.
