Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says that months of lobbying the Stanwell Board and Management to consider reopening the two mothballed generators at Tarong has paid off.
“At every opportunity, I have asked the Board to consider the return of the units as soon as possible and I’m glad that this has paid off for our community,” she said.
“This is great news for the South Burnett and the long-term economic outlook for our region.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the two units back up and running and a renewed commitment from Stanwell to our community.”
Mrs Frecklington said the announcement helped to send a positive message and this should have a flow-on effect for business and the broader community.
“I know that this announcement will help create a positive outlook for businesses and the community, just knowing that Stanwell are here for the long-term,” she said.
