An 18-year-old Wanora man was lucky to escape serious injury when his Ford ute collided with a guardrail near Goomeri on Friday morning.

The incident occurred about 8:35am on the intersection of the Bunya and Burnett highways.

Sgt Warren Lohmann, from Goomeri Police, said the man was attempting to turn right when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the guardrail.

The driver suffered bruising to his right shoulder and was transported to Murgon Hospital where he was examined and released.

Sgt Lohmann said excessive speed was believed to be a factor in the incident.
