The highset Queenslander was fully alight when fire crews arrived on site

February 23, 2014

The local community is rallying around a family whose house was gutted by fire at Ellesmere on Saturday afternoon.

Nine fire crews attended the blaze in a highset Queenslander on Pauls Parade.

Emergency crews were called at 3:50pm and found the building fully alight on arrival.

The family – two adult women and four children aged from four to 13 – were not hurt but lost everything to the flames.

An appeal immediately went out on Facebook via family friends and by Sunday evening a quantity of clothing had been collected to assist.

Kumbia QCWA is also helping with school uniforms for the children and some shop credit cards.
