Kingaroy State School Year 6 and 7 students were sworn in as senior school leaders this week.

In one of the first official duties performed by new school principal Michael Flood, the children took an oath of leadership in front of South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.

Mr Flood has stepped in as principal, while Debbie Hails takes over as Acting Assistant Regional Director for Education Queensland’s Darling Downs South West Region until the rest of the term.

Mr Flood has been a principal for 15 years in a variety of Queensland schools, including the South Burnett.

School captains for the final year of Year 7 at Kingaroy State School are Shaun McConnell and Michelle Kranenburg.

Year 6 students are also represented by their own captains this year, Lachlan Montgomery and Jasmine Whye.

House Captains were also honoured at the ceremony.
