Football South Burnett premiers Nanango will have to wait a little longer to see who they will face in the Football Queensland Cup.

Nanango and Gatton have both drawn a bye in Round 1.

The FQ Cup is a preliminary competition to decide which clubs will represent Queensland in the inaugural FFA (Football Federation Australia) Cup.

It is similar to the English FA Cup format which gives local clubs the chance to compete against elite teams if they can get through the elimination matches.

The FFA/FQ Cup Draw for all zones was conducted on Saturday, February 1, at the Football Queensland Presidents and Administrators Meeting.

The draw for the South-West Queensland Zone was conducted by Chief Operations Officer Ben Mannion, SWQ President Nigel Fanning and Football Queensland President Greg Redington.

The teams nominated from our SWQ Zone are Nanango, Chinchilla, Warwick, Gatton, USQ and Willowburn.

Round 1 matches will be played at Toara Park, USQ Toowoomba, Sunday, February 16:

  • 1:00pm – USQ v Warwick
  • 3:00pm – Willowburn v Chinchilla

Nanango and Gatton have a Bye.

Round 2 matches will be between the winners of these games against Nanango and Gatton.

The draw or date for these matches has not yet been decided but it is most likely the games will be held in Toowoomba during the first or second week of March.

Round 3 will be between the final two winners.

Round 4 will be the Winner of Round 3 up against the local National Premier League team, South West Qld Thunder.
