About 17 rural fire crews attended a large grass fire burning near homes on Malar Road at Booie this afternoon.
An Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters did back burning to help control the blaze, which burned out at least 15ha.
The fire was contained by 2:30pm but firefighters remained on site to do mopping up.
They will patrol the area again in the morning.
