Multiple fire crews have been called this evening to a large bushfire at Tansey.

The fire broke out about 2:30pm near Stumm Road and is currently moving in an easterly direction.

The fire is approximately 100ha size but an Emergency Services spokesman said it was not threatening any properties.

However, there is a lot of smoke in the area and motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and residents with respiratory conditions are asked to keep their doors and windows closed and their medication close by.

UPDATE 7:00pm:  The fire is now contained and backburning is in progress. A dozer and a tractor have been used to cut firebreaks. Waterbombers, which were called in earlier, are no longer required.
