An elderly man was flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition yesterday morning after being injured in a fall from a horse in the Proston area.

A spokesman for the RACQ CareFlight helicopter rescue service said the accident occurred on a property near Okeden.

The rider, in his late sixties, had been mustering cattle with his son who found him soon after the fall.

The man was briefly knocked unconscious and suffered a chest injury and abrasions.

The RACQ CareFlight crew and ambulance paramedics treated the man prior to transferring him to the helicopter for transport to hospital.
