Multiple fire units and police are on site at a large fire burning in the Cloyna area this afternoon.

The fire – in grassland and bushland – has already burned out about 50ha.

An Emergency Services spokesperson said at least four properties are currently  (3:20pm) under threat from the flames.

A dozer is being used to help build containment lines to protect houses and sheds.

The fire, which began about 1:30pm, is burning in the area of Bicks Road and Wilsons Road.

UPDATE 6:15pm: Five rural fire crews and two urban crews had the fire contained by 4:15pm.

No property was lost.  Firefighters are now beginning to leave the scene although some “mopping up” is still taking place.
