Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this afternoon on the Wide Bay Highway at Lower Wonga.

Preliminary investigations suggest that around 1:40pm, a utility was travelling west on the Wide Bay Highway when it lost control and rolled.

The driver and sole occupant of the utility, a 58-year-old man, died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
