Emergency services have launched a new smartphone app to help people call the right number for help in emergency and non-emergency situations.

The Emergency+ app will encourage people to call the correct number for help in emergency and non-emergency situations:

  • Triple Zero (000) for emergencies
  • 13-25-00 for SES flood, storm and cyclone assistance; and
  • 13-14-44 for the non-emergency Police Assistance Line

Information on other national numbers – Crime Stoppers, Health Direct and National Relay Service – will also be available on the app.

The app uses existing smartphone GPS functionality to enable callers to provide emergency call-takers with location information, as determined by their smartphone.
