On Saturday, November 23, the Kingaroy Koalas Under 10 boys team competed in the Wide Bay Carnival at Childers.
They played four games over the day.
The team lost 4-2 in the first game to Maryborough. In their next two games they started to come together as a team to come out on top in both, which was a big boost to their confidence winning the games 6-3, then 9-0.
It then came to the final against Maryborough who had beaten them in the first game.
It was a brilliant game with the Kingaroy boys being ahead at half-time with a score of 2-1.
It continued to be a close game with both teams scoring another try, making the final score 3-2 to Kingaroy at full-time.
The Kingaroy boys were a little shocked at the final buzzer to discover they had won the grand final.
Well done to the Kingaroy Under 10 boys and the coaches Peter Carstairs and Brian Gale.
Connor Shadforth received Players’ Player of the Day award, and James Watt received Grand Final Player of the Match.
Thanks to all the parents for making the effort to get the boys to training and to the game on Saturday.
A big thank you to our referees Kelly, John, Allan, James and Dawn without whom we would not have been able to nominate any of our teams.
