The CEO of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) will visit Kingaroy this week to speak at a breakfast hosted by the Red Earth Community Foundation.
FRRR is a philanthropic organisation which was established in 2000 to support the renewal of Australia’s rural and regional communities through partnerships with the private sector, philanthropy and government.
In its first 10 years of operation the organisation distributed over $25 million in grants.
FRRR CEO Alexandra Gartmann and Queensland FRRR Manager Annie Wright will speak at the breakfast about philanthropy, long-term regional sustainability and resilience.
“Philanthropy is about giving your time, treasure and talent, and the South Burnett area is rich in all three of these,” Red Earth Community Foundation chair Georgie Somerset said.
“This year alone our region has raised well over $200,000 through only three initiatives – Relay for Life, the Mayor’s Red Earth Flood appeal and the Mayor’s Charity Ball. And all of this was done when the South Burnett endured great hardship.”
Mrs Somerset said everyone was welcome to attend the breakfast on Monday morning, which would also be launching a community leadership program.
“After several years of discussing how we can ensure we have mechanisms in place to support the South Burnett region and strengthen our future, we now have one,” she said.
