Eighteen teams are expected to take part in this weekend’s Kingaroy Futsal Cup, which kicks off at 9:00am on Saturday at the Kingaroy High School Sports Auditorium.

This is the second year the tournament has been held and local organiser Debbie Ovens expects it will be “huge”.

Fourteen teams played in the round robin competition last year.

Futsal teams from Kingaroy State High School and St Mary’s Catholic College travelled to Toowoomba at the weekend to compete in a school carnival.

The St Mary’s team won two games, lost one and drew one but lost their semi-final:

Won 2-0 against Robina Maroon.
Drew 2-2 with Clontarf
Lost 2-1 against at Ursula’s
Won 4-0 against Southern Cross
Lost the semi-final 4-0 to Harristown

School futsal coach Wade Toms said the St Mary’s girls missed a couple of easy finishes during the final which was disappointing. However as Harristown had won some of their games 13-0  and 11-0, the team did well to hold them to 4-0.

Kingaroy State High results:

Harristown 3-1
Clontarf Gold 1-5
Ipswich Blue 1-13
Robina Maroon 1-2
Clontarf White 3-1
