Kingaroy RSL’s Brady Roberts is bowled in the A Grade match against Warriors at Lyle Vidler

Round 1 of the South Burnett Cricket Association 2013-14 competition was played at the weekend.

Wooroolin Warriors defeated Barambah by four runs in the B Grade match played at Kingaroy State School.

Top scorer for the Warriors was Steve Heness who led the way with 64. Paul Clegg (30) and Hayden Wieck (21) also made handy contributions on the way to the total of 151.

Best of the Barambah bowlers were C Zala (1/7 off four overs) and Edwin Simpson (1/31 off four overs).

In reply, Barambah made 147.

Edwin Simpson was top scorer with 75. J Hopkins (20) and C Zala (18) were the other best batters.

At Taabinga State School, Kingaroy RSL defeated Kumbia 184 to 159 in their B Grade match.

Top scorers for Kingaroy were Jacob Heidrich (51) and Alex Firman (32).

Kumbia bowler Warren Cross took 3/21.

Cross also starred with the bat for Kumbia, hitting 60 runs.

Top bowler for RSL was Louis Fairbairn who took 6/32

The first of this season’s Goodchild Shield matches will be played next Sunday when South Burnett faces Fraser Coast at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.

The Goodchild Shield is contested by four A Grade teams: South Burnett, Fraser Coast, Gympie and Bundaberg.
