Keen gardeners filled the grounds of the former Rose Park Nursery on Okeden Road in Proston on Sunday morning.
The occasion was a Garden Fete, the annual fundraiser for the Proston Angels Relay For Life Team and part of the long weekend’s South Burnett and Cherbourg on Show promotion.
The fete featured a range of stalls selling everything from plants to novelty items, along with a white elephant stand full of surprise bargains.
There were also lots of fun games and competitions with a gardening theme throughout the morning to keep visitors amused.
For those feeling lucky in the bright Spring sunshine, there was a Lucky Gate Prize of $50 cash and a major raffle prize, both drawn about 1:00pm.
The Proston Line Dancers also turned up to put on a special boot-scooting performance, and there was a small flower show and a photography show in the grounds, too.
Members of the Proston Angels Relay For Life team manned the front gate and the fete’s food and drinks stand, serving up hot and cold food, tea, coffee and soft drinks throughout the morning.
Organiser Helen Young said this year’s Garden Fete was the fourth year the event had been held to help the Proston Angels, and that it always drew a good response from locals.
“Our local Relay For Life Team always work hard and we all like to support them wherever we can,” she said.
[Update 18-Oct-13: This year’s Garden Fete raised $1,183 for the Proston Angels, who were this year’s third highest South Burnett Relay For Life fundraisers]
