The South Burnett is home to many unique things. Visitors can either travel all over the region to find them, or save time and find many of them at one place: Taste South Burnett in William Street, Kingaroy.
Taste South Burnett is a cellar door for three leading South Burnett wineries (Bellbird Vineyards, Barambah Wines and Kingsley Grove Estate) and a retail outlet for many unique local foodstuffs.
These include Booie liqueurs; Bunya Red Farm Capers; chilli sauces and pastes; locally roasted coffee; all manner of peanuts and peanut products; pickled onions, dill pickles and relishes from Kumbia; Kingaroy cheeses; locally made fudges; and many, many other mouth-watering and hard-to-get South Burnett foods.
And on Saturday, October 5, Taste South Burnett will be running a special Bubbles & Bocce Day between noon and 4:00pm for locals and visitors that will feature several special things in honour of the South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show weekend.
One of them will be tastings of Barambah Wines’ new-release vintages, which include their First Grid Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Chardonnay.
These top flight wines normally retail for around $35 per bottle and aren’t usually available for tastings.
There’ll also be tastings of new pates, fetta cheeses and fudges inside the cellar door, as well as a promotion of Bellbird Vineyard’s BB Bubbles (a sparkling Cabernet Merlot-Rose blend that’s fantastic served chilled on a hot day).
And they’ll also be running a big bocce competition (ie Italian bowls) on the lawn in their landscaped picnic area that promises to be great fun!
Taste South Burnett also have a cafe with great balcony views over their gardens, and it will be operating all afternoon, offering its full menu plus great platters which are just perfect to enjoy with a bottle of your favourite wine or something non-alcoholic if you prefer.
There’s no charge to come along to the Bubbles and Bocce Day and no charge for tastings or samples, either.
