Goomeri pool will re-open for summer this week after an $84,000 renovation in the wake of the Australia Day floods.

The pool complex, located in Moore Street, suffered extensive damage to its canteen and grounds when fast-flowing floodwaters rushed through the area.

The water was flowing so strongly the fences around the pool were flattened.

The 25m main pool and the small wading pool were left filled with debris and mud.

The repairs, completed by Gympie Regional Council at a cost of more than $84,000, are designed to make the pools and canteen more resilient to future floods.

The old canteen was stripped bare for the renovations. It has been tiled and repainted, and stainless steel benches installed.

The two swimming pools have also been repainted and tiled.
