The Bunya Forest Gallery will be opening the latest exhibition in its “Artist In Focus” series on Saturday, September 21.

The new exhibition by textile artist Kay Joyce – “A Narration In Fibre” – brings together many pieces from private collections as well as new works.

Kay says the exhibition represents “a journey of discovery and reflection over 2 decades” which has resulted in a melding of her passion for the natural environment with her love of textiles.

“The natural environment has always stirred my creative spirit,” she says.

“Living amongst the Bunya Mountains forests has allowed me to feel the story of nature as it’s embodied by an ecosystem, with direct links back through eons of time. And reflection reveals essential truths that are on display in all the natural systems on our planet.

“This exhibition harnesses the qualities of textiles to tell some of the stories that illustrate the power, wisdom, persistence, tranquility, brilliance, diversity, simplicity and complexity that is nature.”

The collection will feature at Bunya Forest Gallery from September 21 until the end of October.

The Gallery is located at 14 Bunya Avenue in the Bunya Mountains and is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and during the week from Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Kay will be in attendance at the gallery during the exhibition.
