The South Burnett Regional Council has advised that prescribed burns will be undertaken on Council Reserves across the South Burnett over the next three months.

The burns will be carried out by Rural Fire Brigades.

Areas to be burned include

  • Nanango Racecourse and Tip Reserve
  • Nanango Netball Reserve
  • Wondai East and Showground Reserve
  • Wondai West Reserve
  • Wondai Stock & Water Reserve
  • Wondai Airport
  • Booie Reserve
  • Wooroolin Wetland
  • Gordonbrook Dam
  • Mt Wooroolin
  • Kingaroy Night Soil Depot
  • Proston Town Reserves

Council has reminded residents and businesses around the burn areas to take the following precautions:

  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
  • Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
  • Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
  • Remove washing from clothes lines
  • Ensure pets have a protected area
  • Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on
  • Sightseers must keep away from the burn for their own safety
