The monsters are coming to Kingaroy … and they’re promising to make mayhem at Kingaroy Showgrounds on Saturday night.

Two massive monster trucks, “Crusty Demons” and “Spot”, will be making spectacular jumps and crunches as part of Kingaroy Speedway’s “Monster Truck Mayhem”  night.

The two five ton trucks are both running 541 CID Chevy big blocks with 8-71 blowers. Translated, this means 1500hp, a top speed of 150km/h and 80 litres of fuel every five minutes!

Driver Jeremy Brady, from Mississippi in the United States, put Crusty Demons through its paces at a special media preview at the showgrounds on Wednesday.

The Chevy pick-up, which was built at a cost of $250,000, is just a baby; the Kingaroy outing will only be its fifth show.

Its partner on the night, “Spot”, will be driven by Sunshine Coast driver and monster truck builder Dave George.

The two drivers will be trying hard to outdo each other. Spot has a shorter wheelbase and is highly manoeuvrable while Crusty Demons is faster in a straight line.

The Monster Trucks night will also feature a $1000 Demolition Derby; speedway racing by Production Sedans, Four Cylinders, Juniors, Street Stocks and Microsprints; and a fireworks display.

Gates open at 3:00pm with the official opening at 6:00pm.
