Visitors to Moffatdale over the South Burnett-Cherbourg On Show long weekend will have a unique opportunity to have lunch in an old dairy if they drop by Clovely Estate’s cellar door on Saturday or Sunday, October 5-6.
Clovely Estate’s Old Dairy Restaurant is built inside a century-old dairy that was used on the property until it was converted over to wine production in the mid-1990s.
These days Clovely Estate is Queensland’s biggest winery, producing the state’s largest range of wines and selling them all over Australia as well as into the export market.
Clovely have won countless state and national awards for their wines, and all of them are available for free tastings at the Estate’s cellar door in Moffatdale.
The cellar door is located in the middle of a valley of vineyards and in October is ringed by bright green grapevines that stretch to the horizon.
The Old Dairy Restaurant was opened by Clovely’s cellar door operators Wally and Cathie Pesudovs in 2009.
It offers a small but beautifully prepared range of French-inspired entrees, mains and desserts along with the complete Clovely Estate wine range and a small selection of hard-to-get French wines that are imported especially for the restaurant.
The cellar door is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm every day, and the Old Dairy Restaurant from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm daily (except for public holidays).
Guests who want to overnight on the property can also book accommodation at Clovely Cottage, an on-site B&B that can accommodate up to 10 people.
The Old Dairy is an intimate restaurant and only accommodates a maximum of 36 guests, so bookings are advisable if you want to be certain of a seat.
You can make one by phoning the cellar door on (07) 4168-4788.
