The Proston branch of the Queensland Country Women’s Association hosted the annual meeting of the Gympie & South Burnett Division last week in the Proston Community Hall.

Members and guests enjoyed a Vietnamese-style lunch, to introduce the country that QCWA members will study next year.

They also had the opportunity to peruse the entries in the finals of the Division cookery, floral art and knitting and crochet competitions, and displays about this year’s country of study, Turkey.

The new Division executive for 2013-14 also officially took over.

Retiring Gympie and South Burnett Division President Elaine Ballin (Maidenwell) and Treasurer Lois Donald swapped positions.

Current Division Secretary Mollie Kratzmann (Kumbia Branch) was re-elected.

Eileen Vos, from the Proston branch, has taken over as Division Press Secretary, replacing Marian Mudra (Kumbia).

Lois Thurecht (Elgin Vale) was convener of the Knitting and Crochet competition; First prize in the crochet section went to Linda Gear (Cedar Pocket) with her first ever entry in a QCWA competition 

Special guests were South Burnett Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell, Gympie Deputy Mayor Tony Perrett and Cr Kathy Duff, centre
