Leah Purcell ... returning home to open skate park

August 2, 2013

Leading Australian actress – and former Murgon resident – Leah Purcell will be the special guest at the official opening of the new Murgon Skate Park later this month.

The opening will take place on Friday, August 23, at 1:00pm and Leah will be coming from Sydney for the event.

South Burnett Regional Council allocated $150,000 to build the skate park, a shade shed and an adjacent climbing wall.

Gore Street will be closed off for the official opening.

Students from Murgon and Cherbourg schools have been invited to attend so there should be about 600 students and their teachers present.

Representatives from both the South Burnett and Cherbourg councils will also be there.

Activities on the day will include a skateboarding demonstration as well as a performance by the junior Wakka Wakka dancers.

“The main focus will be celebrating the valuable contributions young people make to our community,” Cr Kathy Duff said.
