The South Burnett’s 2013-14 swimming season will kick off soon with warmer pools.

Over the winter months the South Burnett Regional Council upgraded the Murgon Pool with a new heat pump, heat blanket and rollers.

The council also installed a new heat blanket at the Wondai pool, and removed damaged fibreglass characters from the toddler’s pool in Kingaroy while it sources a new feature to replace them.

Cr Deb Palmer, who announced the upgrades at yesterday’s council meeting, said they were part of the SBRC’s commitment to making the region’s public swimming pools more attractive to swimming clubs, schools and the general public.

The Kingaroy and Wondai pools will open for the new season on Sunday, September 1.

And the Murgon pool – which is under new management – will open a day earlier on Saturday, August 31 with a Council-subsidised Open Day.
