Three dogs who attacked a toddler and his mother in Blackbutt at the weekend have been put down.

South Burnett Regional Council Planning and Environment General Manager Stan Taylor said a council worker attended the scene of the incident on Sunday.

He said the owner had agreed to surrender the dogs, three American Bull Dogs, and they had since been euthanased.

Mr Taylor said Council had not received any previous complaints about the dogs.

“As far as we are concerned, we have taken the appropriate action. We have removed them from society by euthanasing them.”

Mr Taylor said the mother and son were “ok” and had received stitches.

No further action would be taken against the dogs’ owner.

UPDATE August 6, 2013: The mother and boy have now been released from hospital.
