South Burnett residents are being urged to get on their bikes for the inaugural South Burnett Region Community Ride which will be held in Kingaroy on Sunday, July 28.
The charity fundraising ride is being held in conjunction with the 144km Tour de Kingaroy road race (a round of the Brisbane Camperland Queensland Road Teams series).
Local cyclists will have the choice of three routes: 6km, 12km or 35km (see maps below).
All rides will start at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street. Riders will then head along Walter Road and up Harris Road.
The 35km route will take in the challenging Crawford-Booie Road hill climb for riders who feel up to it!
The routes will all be sign-posted and traffic-controlled.
A Cycling Queensland spokesman said the event was open to everyone … school students, parents, friends, business houses …
There will be a sausage sizzle in the Youth Park, run by Kingaroy Lions, from 7:30am with funds raised to support the Mayor’s Community Trust.
Riders should register online before July 21.
Entry fees are:
- 6km ride – Adults $10 (individual), $35 (team); students $5 (individual), $17 team
- 13km – Adults $15 (individual), $50 (team); students $10 (individual), $35 team
- 25km – Adults $25 (individual), $80 (team); students $15 (individual), $50 team
Teams consist of four riders.

All proceeds from the community ride will go to the South Burnett Mayor’s Community Trust.

Eighteen teams (108 riders) will be taking part in the events, which form Round 4 of the Queensland Road Teams Series.
The Stage 1 Tour de Kumbia will cover 112km, heading along Kearneys Road to Ellesmere Road and then Kumbia-Brooklands Road.
The Stage 2 Tour de Kingaroy covers 144km around Kingaroy. Riders will complete four circuits of the 35km Community Ride course (see below).
South Burnett residents have been invited to come down to the Youth Park to watch the end of this event about 2:30pm on Sunday to meet some of the best competitive cyclists in Australia.
