Club members Geoff Aird and Robert Carroll help set up last year’s Bookarama

July 25, 2013

It’s on again … the favourite day of the year for South Burnett bookworms!

The Taabinga Rotary Club’s Bookarama will be held in September and the club is now looking for donations of books to help make the fundraiser a great success.

This year the main charity being supported will be the local Meals On Wheels.

All donations of books can be left at JA Carroll & Son Solicitors at 12 King Street, Kingaroy; Elders Insurance, 191 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy; or Ken Mills Toyota, Youngman Street, Kingaroy.

Last year, the club raised more than $5000 with the most funds going towards the local charities.

“This year the Bookarama will be bigger than past years,” a club spokesman said.

“We conservatively estimate that there are approximately 15,000 books for sale on nearly every possible topic.

“The club has obtained a lot of new stock from outside of the South Burnett region.

“We thank all the people and organisations who have donated books to the club.

“There are so many thousands of books that new stock will be put out on display every day, Saturday and Sunday, for you to browse through.

“And there is more! Raffles, a sausage sizzle and more.”

The Bookarama will be held in Kingaroy Town Hall from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, September 21; and from 9:00am-noon on Sunday, September 22.
