Well-known Wondai artist (and gardener) Graham Mitchell, from Dimities Cottage

July 17, 2013

Well-known Wondai artist Graham Mitchell, from Dimities Cottage, will be the featured artist at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery next month.

His exhibition of pastels, “Paint What You Love”, is inspired by advice given to him by his first pastel teacher to “paint what you love”.

Graham has exhibited in numerous galleries throughout Queensland for the past 15 years.

This time his work will be featured  in the main Alison Iszlaub gallery space at Wondai.

In the front gallery will be  “Pieces Of My Heart”, a photography exhibition by local resident Roberta Schablon.

Roberta and her husband moved from the city to Cloyna almost five years ago. Not long after the big move, their daughter Evie was born.

Roberta is now inspired every day to pick up her camera.

Works by Deidre Sonya Amos will be are in the third gallery. Deidre has had a love of painting and drawing since the age of seven and paints whatever inpires her at the time.

Deidre uses many media including pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolour, acrylics and oils.

“My style depends on the effect I want to create and how I visualise the end result. So I guess you could call my style experimental and varying. Nothing that fits neatly into any box,” she said.

St Joseph’s Primary School, from Murgon, will be in Kidz Korner.

The exhibition will be officially opened on Friday, August 2, from 6:00pm. Entry on opening night is $5.00 which includes hot and cold supper and punch; wine will be served by Captain’s Paddock Vineyard and there’ll also be live entertainment.

It will remain in the gallery throughout August. The gallery is open seven from 10:00am-4:00pm.
