Mining company PX3 Exploration looks set to receive a minerals exploration permit to explore 211sq km of land north-east of Yarraman.
Exploration Permit 19770 is centred about 11km from Yarraman, and covers portions of the South Burnett, Toowoomba and Somerset council areas, including Taromeo, Boobir and Cooyar creeks.
PX3 Exploration is also currently exploring for gold, copper and iron ore deposits in the Calliope and Biloela regions of Central Queensland.
The State Government is treating the permit application under its “expedited procedure” mechanism, meaning that the permit will be granted unless a native title party lodges an objection within four months.
