The July category is childcare … Kingaroy Rotary Club president Damien Tessmann with Kelly Crawford, from Kingaroy, daughter Eliza, 9 months, and Samantha Rix, 9 (and yes, we agree, mums deserve an award every day)

Do you take pride in your work? If you do, and you (or someone else) can explain why, then the Kingaroy Rotary Club would like to give you an award.

Club president Cr Damien Tessmann said today Kingaroy Rotary had decided at its Monday night meeting this week to hold monthly “Pride Of Workmanship” Awards for the next 12 months.

Each month, the public will be invited to nominate an outstanding individual from within the Kingaroy region in a particular work category.

The July vocation is “Child Care Worker”.

This will be followed in August by “Transport” and in September by “Health Care”.

Individuals can either be nominated by their clients, workmates, bosses etc. Or they can self-nominate.

Cr Tessmann said the only thing required was an explanation of “why” the person should be rewarded.

“Entries will be judged by a panel of senior Rotarians and then a trophy will be presented at our weekly meeting,” Cr Tessmann said.

He said the motto for the awards was “Do It Once, Do It Right, Build A Better Australia”.

“We want to recognise people who excel in their vocation,” he said.
