southburnett.com.au is moving to a newer, faster web server but there may be a couple of minor hiccups along the way.
Our current web server is now three years old and our company policy has always been to upgrade every 36 to 40 months in order to provide the highest possible service level for our online visitors.
The new web server incorporates the latest stable versions of the various software platforms we use, along with three times the RAM we currently have available.
The combination of both should help deliver even faster page displays for our readers.
During the course of the move, however, we’ll also need to make a number of modifications to some of the software we use to deliver to you the South Burnett’s most comprehensive, up-to-date local news service.
And until we do this, some parts of our site may display error messages.
We would like to apologise in advance to any of our readers who may be inconvenienced by this.
We would also like to assure you that any of these outages will only be temporary and will be attended to as promptly as possible.
At some short but key points in the move, email services through our server may also become temporarily unavailable.
We expect any emails sent to us during these periods will simply be delayed an hour or two before they arrive in our “in” boxes.
However, if you try to email us at any time over the next week and find your email has been returned to you marked as “undeliverable”, we’d like to apologise and ask you to simply resend it. It should arrive normally at our end on the second attempt without any problems.
