The Murgon community gathered together on Saturday night to say “thank you” to the BlazeAid organisers and volunteers who have put so much time, energy and musclepower into the flood recovery effort since February.

The buffet-style dinner was held in St Joseph’s Hall and was organised by the Barambah Ministers Association.

BlazeAid volunteers rubbed shoulders with the locals who have been providing them with meals as well as the farmers who they have been assisting.

On behalf of South Burnett Regional Council, Cr Kathy Duff presented certificates of appreciation to BlazeAid, the Salvation Army, the Bunya Wakka Wakka Association and Leo Geraghty, from the Murgon Business and Development Association.

At the beginning of last week, BlazeAid volunteers had cleared flood debris from 133km of fencing, and 130km of broken fencing had been repaired or rebuilt; 73 farms had been assisted.
