A 17-year-old woman who racked up a string of traffic offences received a “discount” when she appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court today.
Nikki Maree Barratt-Coates pleaded guilty to speeding, unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and driving a vehicle with the wrong number plates.
Police prosecutor Sgt Wayne Bushell said that if the police who had intercepted the vehicle on the Bunya Highway had issued tickets for each offence, the total value would have been more than $1600.
Magistrate Mark Bucknall asked Barratt-Coates, who was unrepresented, why she was driving.
She replied that she was worried about her child and was taking the baby into Kingaroy Hospital for a check up; however she admitted it was not an emergency.
Mr Bucknall fined her $650. Convictions were recorded.
