Artist Dianne Woodall working on a portrait of a cat

June 23, 2013

The July exhibition at Wondai Regional Art Gallery will feature South Burnett artist Dianne Woodall and is totally “pet orientated”.

It will range from scraggy cats to dogs with attitude, some which local residents may even recognise.

Some of the paintings are featured in the book “Everyone’s Friend Luci”, which will be available at the launch on opening night.

This book is about a lovable little dog called Luci and her adventures. The author is Kerry Dunn and Dianne has done the illustrations.

A feature of the night will be a raffle of a painting and book donated by Dianne and Kerry. This will be drawn on opening night and all proceeds will go to the Renal Unit at Kingaroy Hospital.

In conjunction with this pets-themed exhibition, Kids Korner will be running a pets art competition for all school age students.

In the Front Gallery, the Kingaroy Friendly Art Group will be exhibiting a variety of works in acrylics, pastels and pen and ink. Artists include: Jen Pomfret, Pat Clark, Kevin Owens, Glady Hood, Coralie Rivas, Wilsie Harrison, June Everett, Margaret MacLachlan, Linda Newman and Katrina Sullivan.

In the Third Gallery will be “Tangled Threads” from a group of quilters who meet monthly at The Quilter’s Rest.

This exhibition demonstrates skills learned by members from various sources, including the 2012 Australian Quilt Convention in Melbourne, and wet felting.

“Tangled Threads” believes in constructive brainstorming and the artists enjoy working together. Exhibitors  include: Lorna Beetham, Sue Clark, Kate Cull, Laurel Hannant, Barbara Jenkins, Marion Lees, Jill Logan, Barbara Powlesland, Helen Turnbull, Lenelle Wendt and Bev Sorensen.

The opening will be held from 6:00pm on Friday, July 5.

The $5.00 entry costs includes hot and cold supper and punch. Wine will be served by a local winery.

There will be live entertainment by “Muddy Flats”.

The exhibition will remain in the gallery throughout the month of July.
