The cold, windy weather didn’t stop three new records being set on the first day of competition at Saint Mary’s Athletics Carnival on Thursday.

The new records were set by Lachlan Dolzan (11 years discus), Tessa Buzzo (12 years discus) and Nick Schmidhauser (800m).

The college’s new Sports Co-ordinator Allan Medlen said he was very impressed to see three new records set and also the wonderful spirit of competition at the carnival.

He said that with another day of events still to come, maybe even more records could fall.

College Principal Michael Nayler said he was extremely pleased with the great participation of all students. He was particularly pleased with the St Mary’s senior students who took up the challenge of leading by example.

The onset of rain today (Friday) caused the postponement of the final day of competition until Friday, July 12.
