Boondooma Dam is a popular spot for fishing competitions

June 14, 2013

Some of Australia’s leading competitive anglers will be heading to Lake Boondooma at the weekend for Round 3 of the Smak Lures BASS Pro Series.

Local fishermen Matthew Mott and his son Dylan are currently heading the ABT BASS rankings after two rounds of the national competition.

Speaking on CROW-FM during the week, Matthew said he was keen to do well at his “home” dam, and likened the competition to the State of Origin with Queensland aiming to beat the southern visitors.

He said conditions at the dam would be tough but he was looking forward to a good competition.

Weigh-ins will be held at lunchtime and 5:00pm on Saturday, and at 11:00am on Sunday.

This will be Matthew’s last competition in Australia before heading to the United States for a six-week fishing expedition.
