Over the recent Queen’s Birthday long weekend, Kingaroy lawn bowlers Geoff Gees and Kerry Smith competed with Brian Churstain and Trevor Wiggins, of Yeppoon, in the $10,000 Gladstone Invitational Fours Tournament.
During a most successful weekend, they played six games against teams from throughout Queensland including Brisbane, Bargara, Rockhampton and Gladstone.
The team won all six games and remained the only undefeated team, taking out the $4000 winner’s prize.
The second placed team could only manage four wins from six games.
The scalps taken by the local team included bowlers who are considered amongst the best in country Queensland bowling circles.
