An 18-year-old former Cherbourg resident appeared briefly in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today charged with rape, murder and the assault of a pregnant woman.
The youth, who cannot be named, has been charged over the death of Joan Ryther, 27, whose body was found on May 22 within metres of a McDonald’s restaurant in Logan where she worked.
Magistrate Trevor Morgan adjourned the case to August 5.
Solicitor Michael Bosscher, for the youth, told the media outside court his client would be vigorously defending the charges.
