The Mayor’s South Burnett Red Earth Flood Appeal received a boost of about $3000 following a Sportsman’s Dinner and auction held at the Maidenwell Hotel on Saturday night.

Patrons in the packed bar enjoyed anecdotes from leading sportspeople, including former Olympic swimmer Julie McDonald and cricket international Carl Rackemann, before getting the opportunity to bid on a wide range of sporting memorabilia.

Publican Gavin Jones said there were between 150 and 200 meals served and everyone seemed to have a great time.

The Mayor’s Flood Appeal runs until the end of May.

Money raised from the appeal is already being distributed to South Burnett farmers to use at local stores.
