“South Burnett Dollars” are starting to flow to local businesses as a result of the Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today the administrators of the appeal have so far received 53 applications for assistance from the local community.

Forty-five have been approved, three have been declined and five have been deferred until extra information is received.

The total value of applications approved (as at May 6) is $22,500.

This money has been spent at 14 South Burnett businesses: Ackinclose Plumbing and Irrigation, All About You Flowers and Gifts, Andersson’s Fruit Market, Barambah Machinery, BGA, Chrissy’s Caring Hands, Greg Evans Excavator Hire, IGA, Kingaroy Equipment Sales, Kingaroy Plumbing Works, Norco, Pedigreed Seeds, Paul Henderson Electrical Service and Rykes.

So far, the appeal has raised more than $67,200 to assist the region’s primary producers.

It will run until May 31.

The winner of the Nissan Micra – donated by Huston Motors – will be drawn at the Mayoral Charity Gala Ball which will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall on June 1.
