Kingaroy Police are urging drivers to obey the traffic rules regarding double lines, especially illegal U-turns.
A Kingaroy police spokesman said there had been an increasing incidence of this type of motorist behaviour,
“Double line markings are located to ensure the safe movement of traffic,” he said.
“They occur where visibility for motorists wishing to pass may be impaired due to the terrain, as well as in urban streets where crossing the centre lines is dangerous.
“Fines for this offence are quite severe, highlighting the dangerous nature of such behaviour.
“A motorist is not permitted to cross or perform a U-turn over a double continuous centre dividing line. This applies equally in town streets as on the highways.
“For your own safety and that of other motorists, do not cross double lines.”
