Kingaroy Police are urging drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly registered and their drivers licence is current.
“Recently we’ve seen an increase in unregistered vehicle offences and on many occasions this has led to the vehicle being uninsured, which is another offence and possible fine,” Officer-in-Charge of the Gympie District Traffic Branch Sergeant Peter Webster said.
“It is the responsibility of the operator of a vehicle to ensure that the vehicle they are using is properly registered.
“If you are driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle it can amount to around $800 in traffic infringement notices.
“We have also seen a spike in the number of unlicensed driving offences.
“In a number of cases the offending motorists were just unaware their licence had expired.
“It’s a good idea to double check your licence after you’ve had a birthday, just to make sure you’re not driving unlicensed.
“If you don’t renew your licence or vehicle registration, you will have no one to blame but yourself if you get caught and fined.”
